United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians according to our foundational statement of beliefs in The Book of Discipline. We describe God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, though in referring to this threefold nature of God, sometimes the terms Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer are used.
God, The Creator
We believe in one God, who created the world and all that is in it; who is the sovereign ruler of the universe; and who is a loving God who extends his love and grace to us.
Jesus, the Redeemer
We believe that Jesus Christ was human, and who lived as a man and died when he was crucified; that Jesus is divine, and is the only Son of God.
God, The Sustainer
We believe that the Holy Spirit is “God with us.” We believe that the Holy Spirit awakens us to God’s will and empowers us to live obediently; and that the Holy Spirit comforts us when we are in need and convicts us when we stray from God.
We follow our United Methodist heritage of faith that God’s grace is present in our lives and that we live according to the example of Jesus Christ.
We honor and praise God in our daily lives and in our worship.
We celebrate and engage in diverse relationships within our church family and the community.
We pursue spiritual growth in Christ through Bible-based teaching, study and prayer.
We put our faith into action by living Christ’s command to lovingly serve others both near and far.
